96 HX with 1.6 engine
I'm going to be buying this used from a neighbor. In about 15k miles I'm going to need to do the timing belt [it'll be at 200k].
I've done a search and didn't find exactly what I was looking for.
I'd like recommendations/links to a DIY complete Tbelt, water pump, tensioner etc job.
Also, is there a 'better' manual for me to buy?
thanks,
John

I have no idea how ebay is related to the link you provided. I don't have the Civic yet so don't know if a 93 Del Sol has the same engine as a 06 HX but if it does then your link will be a big help - thanks.
My second question is: is there a 'better'/perferred repair manual?
also, I won't get this car until next week what models/years have the same engine as a 96 HX?
thanks

if you dont have an impact wrench, be prepared to head to a shop or a friends place to get the crank pulley off...it's a bitch.
if you are going to do any car repair, it is necesssary to have a manual, and hard copy is the way to go. dont worry about getting an online thread or resource because the helms is all you need.

That link should help you tremendously. While the Z6 and Y5 are different engines at heart, they are basically the same for what you are trying to do. Everything is in the same spot. I did not get to finish doing it myself since that bolt is a bitch, but I did basically everything in that write up (I used a helms). So you can use that but a manual will help for this and other things unless you have a laptop and have access to it while workign on your car. Even a cheap Chiltons or hanyes will work better than nothing.

Thanks all for your help.
I pick up the car this weekend. I need to find out what engine designation it has [I'm hoping the owner still has the owners manual].
Looks like I need to find a Helm's manual.

If it is an HX, it will have the D16Y5.

he told you that it is a d16y5. the letter and number after the "16" help to let you know what form of the single overhead cam engine you have. the "d16y5" is the engine found in the civic hx.
