This is how mine is looking right about now, because it spins freely does that mean that its not working properly?

it should spin. thats how it works.

if it DIDNT spin freely, it would need replacement. it should spin smoothly too, not feel rough.

its designed to spin with the input shaft independently of pushing the clutch plate to engage and disengage the flywheel.

i dunno, cant really explain it more than that. if its broken, i would think its obvious. they usually just go bad like normal bearings and will start to feel rough as you spin, causing too much heat and then seizing.

it does look a bit different than the one pictured. is it aftermarket? i dunno.

since the tranny is out, its always a good idea to replace it whenever you change the clutch anyway. so just replace it.

i had just replaced mine because it was squeeking really bad for instance my through out bearing i guess overheated and there was a crack on the inside of the bearing that opened up maybe a millimeter once it hit the edge of the bearing if that helps... i just took the two spring things or whatever off got a new bearing and put some high temp grease on,now with my new bearing its alot easier to push the clutch pedal down

yes anytime you do as much labor as pulling a tranny, you may as well replace all things like these pilot/throwout bearings, the rear-main seal, heck, even the ball joint boots on the knuckle and tie rods.

and after reading yesterdays' Q.U.I.C.K.Q.U.E.S.T.I.O.N. thread, i'm still LOL
