Default Oil or Driveshaft grease leak? (pics, apx 700kb)

I have this substance around the area where the passenger side driveshaft plugs into the transmission. It appears to be either coming directly from the driveshaft or landing on the driveshaft and being slung around the immediate area. As you can see from the pictures the substance is being slung about a circular fashion and appears to be coming from the driveshaft. The substance seems like grease, but it could also be oil that has alot of road grit in it since this area is exposed and near the wheel. Its a very dark grey color, almost black. The flash might change the actual color in the picture.

Questions:
Is this oil or grease and where do you think its coming from?
I had my driveshafts removed last year to do work on the car, if its coming directly from the driveshaft do you think its the boot, a clamp, seal, or something else?
Is this something relatively easy to repair and what parts should I get?

My pictures

These should be pretty self explanatory... just look around to see the grease/oil in the pictures and check to see if you can tell whether or not my boot is worn.

even a pin hole in the cv will cause grease to be fly all over the place. i patched mine up with undercoating. after 6 months, it started leaking again so i patched it with epoxy resin. has worked since. (i know..i'm cheap)

get under the car and start rotating the tire and pushing on the cv to find the little hole..a could be a small slice that is hard to see.

good call... lets say all that grease you see there was from last summer until now... do you think I can drive 1 hour a day for a few weeks until I get enough money to buy some new boots and clamps?

if you look at the second picture I took it appears that the grease would be coming from the very far edge of the boot where the clamp is attached. Is that metal band/clamp something I can tighten for the time being? I showed someone else the pictures and they think my boot is showing signs of dry rot... he pointed it out in the third picture
