Default Dont lower your car!!!

About 2 months ago I was driving up a road with my friend in his car behind me, and another car in front of me. It was at night, and I knew that the road we where on had just been worked on, but they have been working on it for like 6 months, and the signs where down. So I figured they where done. Boy was I wrong. So there we are doing like 50mph maybe a little more, and *BAM*. My hand was on the shifter, but just sitting there. The shifter came out of 3rd, and then went back in. I was like WTF was that!! My friend jumps on the 2 way radio and says "HOLY ****!, A WHOLE BUNCH OF SPARKS JUST FLEW OUT FROM YOUR CAR!!" So apparently I had hit a man-hole, a ******* huge man-hole at that. I went up to a gas station pulled over but didnt see any damage with the flashlight. I didnt hear anything strange either so I figured it was ok. Well silly me I was wrong, again. So when I got it on the jackstands the other day for what we thought was a heatshield lose, we had seen the damage. Two large chunks are missing from my header, and scratches all along the whole ******* catback. The whole cat-back had to be close to an inch and a half pushed back from what it should be. So I guess the moral of the story is...DONT LOWER YOUR CAR!!!, or at least not with Tokico HP's and H&R Sportlines. It is way lower than what they said it would be. Here are some pics of the damage.....

well this doesn't have much to do with whether or not people should lower their cars, but just so you know, those 2 indentions on the header are there on a lot of non lowered tegs anyway. oh well, have fun and good luck

I am going to venture to say that when Yahoo gets your site back I will see a car that has been excessively slizzammed y0! My GSR is lowered about 1.5" and I have yet to hit anything. Hell - I don't even drag on speedbumps - and my car is a race car, not a streetcar.

well my car is lowered 2.25 and in my area there is a lot of humps and bumps but luckily i know where they are but its a risk that you take like doing any mod to your car, so i don't think the moral of the story is don't lower your car the moral is damn that ******* sucks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I must agree with him in one point, tokicos claims their drops is a lot less than it actually turns out to be. The bottom of my header is dented in. Both that's from a railroad crossing in a town i was familiar with, so the moral of the story is, don't be a dumbass if your going to drive a lowered car. Or get a titanium skidplate (What i want )

That's some pretty funny stuff, there. I drove around for about 6 months on adjustable springs -- I had them set so I had about a fist in between the ground and the downpipe. When I went to take it off, it looked a whole lot worse than that ****. I was tucking about an inch of rim, though. I say its fun to scrape!!

I didnt see the manhole. It was dark and I was behind someone. Besides if the road work signs are down, that generally means that the road work is done.

Report the damage on the car to your city. Sue them if you have to.

If there are no signs, they are responsible...remember...you pay for those roads.

I've been driving lowered cars since 1994.. never had anything like that happen.. you just gotta be careful and watch for things on the road and potholes so you dont bend your rims, slam your header, oil pan, or anything else... sorry to hear about your car... try contacting the city it occured in to see if they will re-imburse you for the damage.. if not then be more careful next time..

This almost reminds me of the time when I did a burnout for 2 minutes and when I got done there wasn't any tread left on my tires. I don't understand why it happened!!!!! hahaha

Well, my integra used to be excessively lowered and I never damaged a thing, now my car is at a height suitable for 99.9% of driving conditions and I am yet to hit anything. Just be more careful bro, thats the moral of the story.
