I just got 2 illusive '88 CRX doors really nice shape, no dents, just a minor spot of rust on the rear lower corner, that my door caps will cover anyway, a pair of '91 EX knuckles for CRXToad, and a Tracker throttle body for my other friend, all for $200. $50 a door, $50 for both knuckles and $50 for the throttle body. I love my local junkyard. Now unfortunitly I have more paintwork to do........

I wish when I went to a scrap yard that there would be a nice find. Best found I found was a 01 Prelude crashed with motor (which I bought for 2000$, and sold for 3000$ haha) anda 90 Civic that I stole every body panel and interior panel and tranny from. I go to junkyards like it's going out of style.

Anybody got a glass roof they wanna come off of, might as well do that too. Otherwise I'm getting a DX roof. I hate Si sunroofs. I so wish i would have gotten a 88 HF to start with. Oh well live and learn. 8 years ago I didn't know ****, what can I say.

just make a targa top CRX and pull the roof off for the track

We could have a CRX Meet at Mid Ohio for the NASA championships, and also I could take people to the local yards. We could deplete all of their CRX parts, so then I won't have any to pick through anymore. Thats OK though I'm sure they'll get more. It's just an idea I've been kicking around.

A little FYI for you. A glass roof is 16lbs lighter than my current roof.

From what I remeber the Si Roof is 29lbs heavier than a HF roof, and a Glass Roof is 16lbs lither so it is 13lbs heavier than a HF roof. I dunno though, it's hard for me to justfy an extra 13lbs in the highest point of the car. I might just get a HF roof.

 

Bart and I have the screwest parts network in the US. We have people searching for Honda parts in several states and several people in those states. Heck I am going to be out in AZ with some of our buddies and what will I be doing Sat. going to 1/2 off day at the junkyard!!!

 

Up here all we have is http://www.car-part.com haha. It's an only database of junkyards. Best way to find almost anything. I only have 3 scrap yards in my area. I have to drive over 100kms to the next one...it does save ALOT of time to know what's there already.

I can get b18's all day for $100.

Problem is they have 100K++++ miles on them and are basically worth nothing as-is except a core. You've got to remember most cars are in the junkyards because they explode on the highway and left, or they get a repair bill they can't afford, or something along those lines.

I'm sure yours is the same way, in which case I've got to ask you why you think that's a good deal!?

Sure most junkyards will give you a 30 day warranty, but you're out all that labor to install an old junked up motor just to find out when you go to start it it's got some major problems.

 

I live close enough i go up to the canadian junk yards they are the ish!!

Are you serious??? I can get these motors cheap and turn around and sell them for double or triplr what I pay even if they have 300K...Honda motors with 100K are far from done, and if I can get them cheap even if they need a rebuild I'll just throw another one in...why pay $600 for a low milage motor when i can have 6 for that price? My teg has over 250K on it and runs like a champ, have you been to a junk yard some cars are in great condition but got hit and totalled because of where they were hit, but i guess to each there own, I'd assume most people are with me on this one

 

i am but my gf hate it when i go to the junk yards mainly becaus ei have no money lol. i need whole new front end if anyone could find one for less then $50 bucks let me know.

I could probally do a frontend for about $100. I just talked to one of my buddies I went to school with about this idea, he is part owner of one of the 5 yards in our town and he is gonna start buying more old hondas to make sure he has a fresh stock for us.

100$ for a B18? expletive. I'd swap an LS in my civic. I wanted too, but I could only find one for 400$!!! Had 130XXXkms on it too. About 75XXXmiles.
