CMP - Looks Like I'm Ready...
All is done except for a good cleaning, which can't be done until it stops friggin' raining for at least a couple of hours.
But basically ready 5 days out is a good thing. Now if the damned thing will just turn this time...

Don't forget to polish your glovebox turbos, y0. Serious question... hypothetically if you knew 100% sure that it would be raining hard in CMP, what would you change about your car setup? assuming you had time to change alignment/shocks/springs if one were so inclined.

I wouldn't do anything because I plan to not race this year if it's raining.
Why...
1. If I have a major incident, my entire year is finished.
2. Racing in the rain at LEAST doubles the chance of an incident.
3. It's not worth risking losing the whole year to run one race, or one weekend.
If it wasn't raining REAL hard, I'd likely start at the back of the pack, do one lap to get my points, and park it (You have to start the race and complete at least one lap to get a finishing position).

....oh well
not going to race in the rain.........come on!! that's the best part, nothing, i repeat nothing is more fun the racing in the rain....take away some of that who spent the most money, who's car has the most hp,who can afford hoosiers and find out who can drive, who can slide....etc.
i pray for rain every race.......besides, my car is dented already

Bravo man!
who is poor, has no HP, Kumho's, and loves to "drift" a little....
Dude, you invited the wrong damn person if you don't like rain. My Type R sees at least partial rain at about 70% of the events it attends.
Take yesterday and today for example. The car is on loan to Matt Curry of Curry's Auto for the Quattro Club @ VIR, and it's lightly raining both days. See? It's not the driver that's cursed. It's the car. It's always the car.
Better buy a rain coat.

yeah no question rain is an equalizer. In the rain the great majority of people push their cars way less than they do in the dry, you do it almost subconsciously really. So the guys who can and want to push in the wet near the same level they do in the dry will be the front runners.
I'm sure Scott would love the rain if he had a healthy sponsorship deal paying big bucks for his car, but I don't think that's the case with any of us. Anyone driving an ITS GSR, or H2/H3 car I'm sure the thought of damaging the car would be in the back of their mind every time out on the track and the addition of rain does naturally brings out more risks. Remember, the majority of incidents don't happy because of *you*. I've had a decent number races in the rain so far and of course been through a bunch of slides (which is inevitable in the rain), but never spun out yet on my own in the wet. If you don't drive over your head (and keep in mind tires take forever to warm up in the rain!) you'll be fine. Plus speeds are noticeably slower in the rain anyway, so if you spin you won't go too far. But as soon as any car gets sideways on the track that's when incidents start to happen, especially in bunched up big fields. You can loose it while trying to avoid the spinning car, someone can hit you, you can hit the wall or even T-bone the spinning car, etc... Avoiding something is much harder in the rain. I've also seen a CRX get crunched up so bad that the roof was bent a little. He was by himself on a *dry* track and made a little error. The damage was so severe because it happened when the track is most lethal and that's right after you start having a dry line. In the few hours after a shower passed through, you'll have a dry track with high dry normal speeds, but the grass is all wet and very slippery. So now if you leave the track at high dry speeds it's likely that only a hard object will slow down in the end because the grass certainly won't help you at all.
CMP is a great track for rain, but chit can always happen. Either way you can bet that the H4 #2 car will be out there rain or shine.

As Alex mentioned, it's not me I'm worried about in the rain. It's the other guy who overshoots his braking point, locks 'em up, and becomes one with the rear of my car. Just as an example.
Scott, who will be watching from under his canopy if it rains.

As an outspoken lover of rain, I think you should run regardless. The odds of an incident can't be that much higher - **** will always happen. That you would say after such in the rain "boy I knew I shouldn't have risked it" is a psychological phenomenon - don't do that to yourself. Take this opportunity to kick more *** harder. And - if you're good and you make it past the first few turns you'll be in the best company.
Scott, who doesn't say this kind of thing to himself.....cause he don't believe in self-help.....
