Default US, Europe, JAPAN swaps

Does anyone know how similar european, US and japanese EK civics are? Can you do engine swaps ie jap engine into US chasis? US engine into european chasis?
Are there problems that can be overcome or is it too hard to consider?

Cheers for any help if anyone knows!!

The ECU can be diffrendt !!! thats it i think !! but nothing that you have 2 worry about just get the right ECU for the engine and you be fine !

what engine u wanting like? i'm in the uk and i always find our engines to be cheaper cause nobody here knows about the power of vtec
b16a2 £400 all day long
b18c1 £1200 out of a 98 with 27k miles

i paid 2800 for a full wrecked itr 64k miles(97)..... there's one with a light rear smash with 7000 miles(99) for 5 grand in the autotrader now

you just need to look harder

full b16a conversion with box, ecu, starter etc was only £300!

Where have you seen a b16a etc for £300?, i have seen a few teg engines for £3000+, too much money. i am also looking at the b18c1 engine, from the 4 door vti civic.

I was asking because i know of a '98 b16c engine for sale and wanted to know any probs.

Ben, what are you doing with your engine you have bought?

its going in my civic vti (the itr one) ive got a b16a2 sat in my garage that i paid 400 for, just ring scrap yards out of the autotrader just keep telling them your cheapest price and they will all try to beat each other. there isnt a big demand for the b16a2 over here, the only people who buy them are people like me who blew their original b16a2. ther cant be too many people that have done that......not as many as have crashed their vti's

b16c?

hmm,
£300-400 for a VTi engine, tempted, sounds a lot cheaper than the ITR swap, thoutgh not quite as good, but i could still live with the 160+bhp, as apossed to my poor 125.

Did the price include everything, ECU, Loom, pumps etc, as i think id need the power steering from the VTi too, as the rack is different and apparently better in the VTi.

good luck with the swaps if ya do em, mines a long way off, as i am still skint from buying the car and it needs a new clutch. Having said that now i know i can get a B16 engine for similar mony i could do that instead!!!
