a local guy that i know is selling is '01 ITR for $15,000. i'm probably going to be buying it here in the next week or so, but i just wanted to get your views on what kind of deal i'm getting. here's the car-

Mods:
Apexi N1 coilovers
DC Sports cat back(came with car)
AEM cold air(also came with car)
black s2k seats in front
gsr leather seats in rear
Asking $15000

Clean or salvage title??? Why the hell would you trade ITR seats for S2K seats???

 

Looks decently clean ... and it's an 01. I dunno, I say go for it .... just look up the VIN make sure everything is kosher, and have it looked at by a Honda mechanic before you buy it (I ALWAYS do that no matter what). Dont get it off ebay though ... he's got no feedback. Go in person or not at all.

And get rid of those s2K seats .... I didn't hate them as much as I thought I would, but some Recaros or stock Type R seats would look much better.

 

i know the guy that's selling it, so i'm not getting it off of ebay. my dad's a honda mechanic, and he's going to check it over for me. carfax is clean.

as for the seats, i have no idea what he was thinking on that. i'll just sell them and get some recaros.

Has it ever been repainted? I guess its just dirty but the paint in the engine bay looks like crap.

I second that. It just doesn't line up right with the front bumper.

 

Other than Ed's suspicion (rightfully so after viewing the pics) of some body work and the ever so hated s2k seats, . 15,000 USD for a clean titled 01 with 52k on the clock is a great deal, so much so that there just might be something hiding in the backround, look that thing over well and only proceed with confidence

LOL. It's a wonderful thing man, trust me. You have access to any tools you may need, and if you come across something your not sure of he's always there to point you in the right direction.

yeah, that WOULD be nice. instead, it's more like, "dad, can you help me do this?" "i'll WATCH you do it, and i'll tell you if you're doing something wrong."

i should know within a couple days if i'm getting it. i'll keep you all updated.

and could someone point out this possible "damage." i'm just not seeing it.

edit: just reran it through carfax to make sure. 3 owners, 1 in oregon, 2 in ohio. everything comes back clean.

 

Annoying things I noticed by looking at the pics:

-rear speaker grill missing
-no ITR floor mats
-carpet looks faded
-red tree air freshener
-those poor wheels
-those aren't the oem lug nuts, plus he's only using 4 on each wheel
-looks like something got spilled in the passenger seat

i am now the proud owner of 01-402. taking delivery of the car today. i'll get some pics and post them up a little later.
