Default 88 si shell w/ 90 si harness problem *searched plenty*

Im puttin a b16 into an 88 si crx shell. The 90 si engine harness has a round 8 wire plug , while the 88 si body harness has rectangle 6 wire plug and then a 2 wire plug closer to the headlights. The pic is pretty explanatory. I thought about just matching up the colors but theyre different. Also the small 2 wire plug has a brown and bule wire, while the 6 wire rectangle plug also has brown and blue wires. Has anyone ran into this issue or have a wiring diagram I can check out. wat is that round plug for anyways?

the 2-wire plug is the service connector for timing adjustments. FYI

The wires that make it a 8 pin connector are for the fast idle valve... 1 wire is blue, the other is blk/yellow... eliminate those, and match the rest of the wires... You should be good... I THINK thats the only difference... I have never tried this on a car however to verify(weird I know!)

If you gimme the exact wire colors, I'm holding both of your engine wiring diagrams in my hand. I'm pretty sure ryan is right though. Although on your car there is a dashpot control solenoid setup, and the wires to that are somewhere...

good thinkin.. 88 does NOT have a fast idle valve.. match up the wires and give her a go.

I did something similar to what your currently doing. I have a 88std model and I put a 90 civic Si wiring harness in the car, but the entire wiring harness from headlight to tailight. A lot of the plugs you can just repin them.
