grinding noise from front end???

grinding noise from front end???
Hi all,the wife has a b20a third gen lude,and the thing sounds like a fan running...grinding on a housing of some sort....but i know its not the fan now.It only does in in gear,or while the wheels are spinning while on a jack,im thinking its the ABS or PS pump.Its coming from under the right headlight,down behind the bumper,next to what looks like a sphere or round gas cylinder???
it does it like clockwork,comes on for about 4 secs then off for three and so on,all the time while in gear.
I can fix this myself,just need to know if i have to bleed it,whatever it is,or is there a quick fix??

when she's driving normally, is there a lot of vibration from the engine? does she have an intake? how do the engine mounts look?

did you take out that stock intake silencer box? big black box about the size of a head light. there's a throttle valve thing inside of it works off of vacuum. Maybe something fell in there and rattles around????

Hiya gooseman,no i havnt removed anything from this car at all.
To me the noise seems to be coming from under the right headlight area,down low,it looks like a pump as it has lines coming and going from it,but doesnt seem to be driven by a belt,so i assume its something to do with the ABS,cause when i jacked it up,put in 1st gear and let the clutch out,i got under it and put my hand on this pump and the noise was definately coming from this part,as i could feel it when the noise presents its-self.If i knew more about this car id jump into it,but its all rocket science to me being a datsun enthusiest,its all straight forward injection and no ABS bollocks.
Does anyone know where an online schematic would be??Or maybe car fiche??
Cheers guys,i appreciate all the comments and ideas to try solve this,being im an invalid and not too well off financially,id like to try and do a process of elimination before i throw hard to come by cash at it to try fix it without knowing what it definately is.
