The Home Depot Lip Brace
For those who asked how I braced my home depot lip

This is looking from the passenger side wheel well towards the front. It's all aluminum to keep weight down and for strength. The L shaped bracket is cut in the middle to allow it to bend a little.

Then theres a 6' section that's roughly 4" wide that follows along the shape of the OEM lip.
The glue on the back of the garden trim keeps the piece from falling down, as well as the brackets.

Technically prowler, but the prowler and the viper shared the same paint code for a few years.
when i had the lip with no bracing... on the freeway, it just folded under per a friend who drove next to me and took a peek
now, it's very firm and holds it shape (except for the sides which aren't braced).
I won't know how accident resistent it is under next weekend, since I've had it on for maybe two weeks. Although I would say it's pretty strong considering the cost involved. I could put another L bracket and flat piece to brace the left and right side... but they seemed to hold very well considering.
The lip - $20 ish
the 6'x4" aluminum piece - $15
L bracket - $5
the two brackets to hold everything to the car - $10.
all together, about $60 in parts (includes tax/bolts). But, i enjoy fabbing stuff up, so buying a store bought piece isn't as fun to me (and isn't that what it's about?).
Plus, if anything happens to it, I simply reform the pieces and i'm good to go.

That looks great!
I have been thinking about doing this for a while now but haven't gotten around to figuring out just how to do it.
Is the lip glued/rivited/attached to the brace at all? It doesn't look like it is, and I suppose it doesn't need to be.
I used base cove molding that is pretty thick but I still want to brace it somehow. I'll have to give this a try, thanks for posting up the pics!

Nope. I used some garden trim stuff someone posted a picture of in the home depot thread. It has a VERY stickey adhesive on the back that is holding the metal to the back of the trim. Otherwise, the trim is only held in place to the bumper by the screws near the top of the trim. The brace is simply resting against the trim... it's actually pushing it a bit forward like a scoop of sorts.
