Default Sucked up water but dont think much

Here's how my NIGHT went, me n my girl decided to go out to eat, after we came out to leave it started raining(i hardly drive b/c of my cold air intake during the rain)lightly, as i was on my way taking her home is started to pour down rain, so i was cautious as hell on not to hydrolock, so drove to the point i was holding back traffic but idc ?engine>holding up traffic? so i drove through puddles up n down city streets down n up hills i go(making sure the whole time as i was driving through puddle that i was in 5th gear, to wear as that i'm not much likely to sucked up water due to low rpm, n then i saw a puddle to late and tried to brake as much as i can, but not hard of course seeing that i was holding traffic up, i ran over the puddle (but not much was sucked in due to braking in time)and after a couple of seconds it had a minor heart attack and shut off(and their i was in the middle of the street on top of the hill holding up traffic), as everyone went by me she n i sat n waited for a couple seconds hoping that i can crank it and be on my way. After a few attempts it wouldn't turnover then i panic like hell in my mind trying to keep it kool. i turned off my radio and everything else that takes nesource of battery power and so i waited a few more seconds and started it up again, and wtf our faces shined and my engine came back to life, but of course i had to give a lil gas to keep it up when first starting back up..So i continued on to take her home b4 my blessings run out, but on the way the entire time it made tis weird nose????????BUT TO MAKE THE LONG STORY SHORT, is my engine ok and just needs to dry over night to stop the sound when i start my car, or do i need to get taken to the shop as soon as possible just in case further damage occurs????Please help, and truly apologize for the long story

It should be okay, if you feel the need, give her an oil change and change your spark plugs. Take spark plugs and wires off and give her a few cranks to spew any water out, i typically stop when i can smell gas.

If your oil is still new, dump it in a bucket and by some cheap conventional oil to flush out any water, then put your regular oil in there.

I didn't read all of the post, I stopped at the part when u said "I drove to the point where I was holding up traffic" - I don't get it, why were u so afraid of hydrolocking? Can't u only hydrolock if water gets into the system? Usually a hood eliminates this problem at the least?

Iono, I'm kinda lost there, drive my civic in the rain all the time, I have no wiper blades either, I doubt I'ma hydrolock from that...In any event, as long as it starts, it should dry up in a night or so (starting would show that there's no perm damage)

You're kidding, right?

The motor should be fine if it started up.

Disconnect your fuel injectors when you do this. It should get a fair amount of water out.

If he was able to start it up again and drive it home then there is no water in the cylinders anymore. It would have been mostly been flushed out by cranking it to start and all water vapor would have been forced out as soon as it started up. If it's making a noise it is possible be might have bent a valve or two. It would make more noise and depending on the damage still start up as well.

The same thing happened to me. After a day of drying out, it was fine. I think your chances of hydrolock are pretty slim. In civics, I don't even think water gets sucked up as much as water VAPOR gets sucked up. Think about drawing a drink up through a straw that isn't completely submerged. You don't get much drink do you?

You need like 3 tablespoons to get engine damage from the high pressure of H2O in the cylinder. But nevertheless, use shortram if you get lots of rain...or else risk this:

ouch

I hydrolocked my d15b a few times. It wasn't with water tho. It was with fuel. (don't ask, not important). All I did was pull the sparkplugs, unplug the distributor, and crank it till it was dry. The motor would start and run fine.

Raced a 1st gen Integra with an exhaust and intake. I was driving my stock 97 4dr ex. Wasted it. Then the teg driver got pulled over for runnin a stop sign. He didnt have insurance nor his licence, $1200 ticket. I got off free

I got a hard time swallowing that story...the teg puts out what, 140hp? Against ur 127 (max), teg also has better compression and more displacement, more torque..

I'm sorry, u had to be either facing a teg w/ a bad engine, or a teg w/ a bad driver, u shouldn't beat a teg w/ a stock EX, it just shouldn't happen
