question for the gooroos
Hey, i am going to be rebuilding a stock CRX Si motor (d16a6) and i am going to try and get a little bit more power outta it, and i want to do a head swap, which head would be good for some more speed, but yet dependibility, and good on gas.
Thanks, im also going to have a bunch of parts from a 90 CRX Si up for grabs if anyone needs something :-p but im stealing the motor and tranny.
So, which v-tec head would be the best for the motor

well you really only have 2 choices. d16y8 head or d16z6 head for vtec. i think the y8 has a tiny bit higher compression so that may be the best choice, although that may just be the headgasket making the compression difference. you may check out hmotorsonline.com for their d15b2 longblock for $400 or whatever it is. it may just be a better choice to go with that, than to rebuild the a6.
you can build the a6 to 180 whp if thats what you want to do. all motor.
go to d-deries.org and check out the posts by bisimoto and exsospeed,
then see about what motor you really want to build.
never underestimate the sohc.
big tuna hits 13s on an all motor d sohc....nuff said.
p.s. all of the big power sohc motors Ive seen are no-tec

See, i wanna keep the SOHC stock motor, cuz everyone underestimates the SOHC, so i wanna build a good motor with some power, and then along the lines turbo it, so... Thanks for the posts, they were a help, keep them coming though

wait depending on what your turbo setup is like you might not even need them down the line.
I would avoid that head at this point.

Im going to avoid the head for now, just get an Intake, its gotta header, full exhaust, i might bore the motor .030 over, put some nice pistons and stuff in it, Mill my head a lil bit(doubt it but hey who knows), cold air intake, and whatever else someone can recommend me
The turbo setup is nothing fancy, prolly just a home-made one, runnin 7-10 PSI
Thats about it, so if you have any other recommendations on engine parts, hit me up, and im still wantin some info on the edelbrock intake
Thanks

uh, bore it .030 over? you might want to just swap it for a b18a if you want more displacement. it will be cheaper and stronger in the long run. and its plug and play after you buy mounts and shift linkage..
muscle cars and other cars with iron blocks are candidates for boreing more so than aluminum block honda engines.
