Default My factory jack broke and. . . .

caused a little body damage. I was using my factory jack to change a flat tire and it just collapsed on itself (the threaded rod broke in half). There were no signs of physical damage before use or anything like that.

Before the commments I was not using it on the grass. There are concrete pavers flushed into the lawn under the jack points. The hydraulic jack that got crushed just was there below the tow hook. But it obviously failed as a back up support The only damage was the bumper cover but it was not that bad besides the broken mounts. Im not sure if that dent was there or not before it happened.

Has a factory jack failed on anyone else?

barly can see the damage thankfully

Were you using the jack towards the bumper side? If I recall on those year accords the little ridge to use is on the inside (under the door) If you used it on any place other than that then it'd be your fault I suppose in the views of Honda. - wait, on the second pic looks like you're using the correct placement - first one looked as if you were using it below the bumper. As to the actual jack snapping I haven't had any problems and have jacked mine up several times

That's weird. The only time I've ever seen these fail was if they were used at an angle. Even then, it wasn't the threaded rod that broke. You may just have a faulty jack.

Why did you paint your rims?!.... off topic of course.....

Well, about a month ago. Me and my friend jacked his car over a paved are with some sand, the car moved a little and the jack turned, because of the sand... the jack slipped. Nothing happened to the car, but the jack won't go up or down. Not the jack's fault.... probably mine, since I was a jack *** enough to put his car over the spot that had more sand.

Did you see how it happened? The only thing that comes to mind is that the jack sliped and fel on it's side trapping the rod beneeth the car the wheight of which caused it to break.

luckily your legs weren't under the car! i had a jack slip on me once cuz the e-brake wasn't pulled up all the way, since that day i always use jack stands and choke the wheels.

the only thing I would think is that maybe the car shifted a little putting the jack at a angle causing it to fail. I assume the hydraulic jack was under the rear side tow hook?

It's always a good idea to chock the wheels and use jack stands whenever possible. I try not to use the stock sissor jack whenever possible.

Good thing you or noone else was hurt

paving stones are nto enough to support the weight of the car....and neither is the "tow" hook (which is used to tie the car down not pull it).
luck you did not get hurt.

...or die.

I keep my floor jack in my car and always use jack stands.
