Default how do you tell what head you have?

I own a 90 civic SI. I bought it used about a year ago. I know that the block has d16a6 stamped on it. The valve cover was writen on by hand ZC right about the oil cap with some kind of crayon. I was curious if you guys know how I can figure out. I know that they are basically the same thing except the ecu and cam are different.

** nevermind the block wasn't stamped d16a6 i just supposed it was.

Well the head would be the same as well, so I think you may be out of luck with that ID technique.

The cam being different I dont think has ever been proven.

The ecu is just differently mapped

More than likely if you have a d16a6 block, you have a d16a6 head. I dont believe there is anyway to tell

I feel kind of retarded. I checked the block once again and it was a ZC Sorry about all of that. No one at the dealer said it was swapped. Can you do a mini me on a zc block?

Well if the block is stamped it ZC, then it's a ZC. For future reference though and simplicity, treat it as a D16A6. And if you want to do a Mini-me, you will have to use the D15B7 timing belt due to the differences between tensioners (you can't use a proper VTEC tensioner on a non-vtec block).
