Default WTF SOUND & slow braking?!

Alright, well last night i was driving down an unfamiliar road, going around 60-70mph, and i went around a turn and there was a dead animal (possum or ground hog, something of that size) and i didn't have the reaction time to swerve around it and i ran over it (in the middle of my car) and i think my lower tie bar hit it.. well i didn't think much of it and just kept driving and then a stop sign came up real quick so i slammed the brakes and smoke poured out from my tires.. the rest of the way home i drove slow..

today i noticed a loud and annoying tapping or rattling sound from underneath the seats (almost where my tie bar seems to be) when the car is in idle.. and my brakes (Brembo Drilled & Slotted) don't stop as fast as they used to..

I check my brake fluid and its at the max level, nothing lost.. And I think maybe the animal may've pushed my tie bar upward, closer to my headers, and maybe that's causing the rattling sound (i didnt check yet)..but what couldve caused this annoying sound and slow braking from my experience last night?!

Any ideas help..

That's either the best attempt to butcher the word "drove" or you are talking about some driving style I have yet to hear of.

you may have cooked your brake fluid or possibly glaze the rotors, check for physica impedements i.e. coons, bent brake lines etc., if no physical issues change brake fluid, possibly resurface rotors.

hope this helps

If your front lower tie bar is a 3 piece, it was probably bent back and is now right underneath your exhaust pipe.

Your probably not able to brake as quick because your alignment may have been thrown off. Check the tie bar first, it might fix the braking too. This happened to me before too and got that rattling sound. Didn't get problems with braking though.

Good point, we were on a freeway mostlikely going 70 or so but decided to run over the shredded tire (safer decision at the time) anyway... it was still strong enough to turn the tie bar and dent my header's b pipe.

But logically (in my head anyway) if it pulled the tie bar back, it would affect the suspension set up and change some configuration (toe maybe). but it is still possible that the roadkill could have messed with the brake system too.

I would check and see if it was the bar first, then hopefully you have one of those lifetime alignment deals.

I was thinking he may have glazed the pads as opposed to the rotors.

I'd get an alignment first (especially if it's free) and then get new pads & have the rotors turned.
