Default h22 STR cam gears...

So I just bought my h22 longblock and it came with STR bronze cam gears, and the dude left timing belt off, my question is on the STR cam gears, is there a way to tell if the cams are in spec with pistons and crank??

In the very center is where the gear slides over the cam. The indention is where the key goes. If your engine doesn't have a timing belt, you need to rotate the cams so that the key on each cam is pointing up, then rotate the bottom end so that #1 cylinder is at TDC (there's a mark on the flywheel indicating where #1 TDC is)

Fairly easy to turn then just by grabbing the gear with your hand and twisting. The bottom end takes a good size wrench
