Default 1991 Honda Accord EXR wont start when interior of car is hot...

I have a '91 honda accord exr and for some reason when I park in the sun, or if the interior of the car gets hot, it will not start. It works fine all winter, but as soon as the weather gets warm it's very tempermental..I had this problem last summer, but when it started getting cooler, towards the fall/winter the problem went away so I didn't follow up. It's happened twice in the last week (after work and sitting in the sun all day) and the only way it'll start up is when I open all the windows/doors to get some cooler air in there and then it starts up and runs fine. On those REALLY humid days, I usually have to abandon the car at work and pick it up a few hours later when the sun has gone down and it's cooled off...not really looking forward to a hot and humid summer!!..Is there a sensor that reads the interior temperature that may be faulty or would it be something else?? HELP PLEASE!!!

thanks!...next question(s)....where do I locate the main relay? Any idea how much something like this would cost? Do i NEED to bring it into a garage to get fixed or would my mechanically inclined friend be able to do this for me?

Ya know it really cracks me up when I see a relativly new person without all that many posts giving a newb **** about not searching for info before making another repeat topic... don't get me wrong the search icon is there for a reason, but i'd be willing to bet 99% had to be told about it, so I don't see how it would be to much to ask, especially if your not an OG around here, to refrain from bieng dick's about it, if your not going to answer the question that was asked atleast try not to bash someone whose asking the same dumb question you did before.

i did answer him. i also told him to search.

if you think posts have anything to do with the amount of knowledge you are sadly mistaken. posts mean **** on forums. it only means you are a post *****.

ive been here for a year, ive been on other forums for over 2 years, ive been reading and doing research for over 4.

i once was a noob, but never once did I make a thread and ask things that could have easily been answered via the search button.

wow some members here are really **** about the search........

anyways, the problem is the main relay.

it is located on the driver side, under the steering wheel panel.

here's a link to find it (i know its for an integra, but it will also work for the accord, to find it):

http://www.integra.orcon.net.nz/relay

you can probably find the relay on ebay or the junkyard...and it is fairly easy to replace, its just a PITA to get to....

when i replaced my main relay with one from the junkyard years ago......i also drilled some holes into the cover, so that the heat could be vented out of the cover. not sure if that actually worked, but i have not had any problems with the main relay whatsoever. goodluck!

When I had my 4th gen (12 years) I had a fuel problem, and everyone kept telling me it's the main relay, it's the main relay. So I bought a new main relay. The problem ended up being the fuel pump itself. I sold the car with an extra main relay in the trunk. Some of them go out, and some of them don't. The reason I think it is the main relay, in this case, is the temperature inside the car affecting the symptoms.

its the temperature that makes the contact point wear and are no longer good.

if you have a solder gun, it is a very easy fix. just go over every contact point and resolder.
