Default compression results

I was doing a little reading and came across that B18C5 motors should have a compression of 200psi. A few weeks ago I had a compression test done at the dealer and it was pretty much 175psi across all 4 cylinders. The mechanic said it was good "healthy motor". However, I called another dealer and they said that those numbers are not good and there not bad. The guy at the dealer did not know the min and max for compression numbers. So does anyone here know what the minimum psi reading a B18C5 motor can have??? If these numbers are too low im gonna take it in because I still have warranty until next March.

I should include that the leak down test was ok

any help would be appreciated

thanks

search.. topic has been covered there are many factors that can alter/get the right compression, including the brand/type of compression tester used.

What about 0-0-0-0?

But yes, it's been covered several times. I personally wouldn't worry if yours are all consistant like that.

That is exactly correct.

My Dad's old compression tester reads 195psi on all 4 cylinders, while my snap-on measures 255psi on all 4. This is on a 12.3:1cr motor.

It is all about the consistancy between cylinders.

Going by exactly what Honda says would be that a BRAND NEW b18c5 should have a optimum compression reading on a tester of 213. Keep in mind that is for a BRAND NEW motor, the minimum allowable before they would say you would need a rebuild/re-ring is 135. Pay attention to what everybody else has said because it's the variance you want to look at more than your actual numbers unless they are unusually low(read, below 135). Your max variance between cylinders would be 28, if you're seeing numbers greater than that something is possibly wrong with your engine. You should start looking into what might be going on.

On a side note, if you had a compression and a leak down test done and especially, the leakdown was ok. Why are you even hear asking a leak down is going to tell you a lot more than a compression tester would anyday(i.e. look at the variance you see between testers like the example above). Come on man use your head.
