Default what am i doing wrong with replacing my brakes???

went to change the pads for the rear brakes on my 91 crx si and the plunger or piston in the middle of the caliper will not go back, i usually use a set of chanel locks to press it back on the fronts of my 88 crx and it works fine. i tried it on the front of the 91 one of them went back fine and the other did not. and the rears will not go back at all, am i doing something wrong
