Cars starts, when i try to start it in gear however the tires take off on me, help please
Well my car starts in neutral just fine. When i try to start my car in gear it tries to take off on me. I put it up on stands and started it in gear and my passenger tires kept spinning when i didnt have gas on it whether or not the clutch was in or out its just keeps spinning. Also i cant get my car to go into gear when i start it in neutral.
hmmm.............something wrong with the pressure pressure plate? Hydraulic or cable clutch?
so, if you start it while in revers, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th, the wheels still spin?
If so, have you tried adjusting the clutch? There should be a cable that goes from drivers side firewall over to the transmission, and on the trannys mount for this cable, there should be a thing you can turn....check that out and let me know....

Ok, I'm thinking two possibilities...
A.) your clutch cable broke
B.) your clutch just went out.
I highly doubt it is A, as I have only heard of this happening a few times, but it is more likely B... Someone else we'll need to back us up here, but thats what I'm leaning on for the moment...Not sure how to test if its either or as well, so maybe someone else will know!

Oh...but you said your passenger tire is the one that spins when you start car when it was on the jacks, right?

Yea i checked the cable in moves when i push on the clutch and it pulls the lever and all. It also goes into gears with no problem with the car off but once i turn it on im only at a idle at about 500 rpms, clutch fully pushed it and it wont pop into gear
Ok, that does sound like a clutch to me, but the drivers side wheel not turning by hand, and the passenger one does, but the passenger one turns while the car is running on its own power...and the drivers one does not...that has me confused/concerned that there might be something else in the works here...
Mine did this when I finished my swap. I just didn't have the clutch cable adjusted proerly. You should have about 1 inch of free play before the clutch engages. Make sure you got that.

I'm sure there is someone that knows a better answer, cause thats the extent of my tranny/clutch knowledge... Good luck dood!

it sounds like the pressure plate took a dive. But it could also be your shift linkage maybe. Check and make sure the bitch pin is still intact and that everything is tight and in place. I am just saying this because once i tried to use a bolt instead of a bitch pin because i got tired of messing with it, and just that little extra bit of play caused me trouble getting it into gear and i thought it was my clutch or tranny also. It was just something so simple.
Well I just installed it, i guess if worst came to worst i would put a xtd stg II in there, i will check to see if its in place i have the clip around it, does where it connects to have to be in a specific position when in pop the pin in or just as long as the holes line up?
Welll for the money you cant beat the xtd. Got one in my car seems to be a good clutch. Have many friends that have put them through abuse with no probs.

Same happened after my clutch install. Car off it would go between gears great, I could actually feel the gears. Then with the car on it would go into first and reverse but not other gears. But it was so rough going into first that the inaugural drive broke the cheap ebay lever right off the ****.
After installing the previous lever, I adjusted the clutch cable and it shifts, in and out of each gear, smooth.
As far as your axle issue, that is a bit odd.

have somebody watch the linkage to make sure its moving when you press on the clutch pedal. if thats working ok, you either have a broken pressure plate, or one of the springs popped off that holds on the throwout bearing, unless of course, something inside the tranny has lunched, but the clutch would release if that were the case, and you could still shift in and out of gears.

Is this a recently replaced clutch assembly installation? If so.....sound like the clutch got put in backwards.....the correct sides need to face the pressure plate and flywheel.

Think about it..........I know it sounds crazy.......but have seen it done

It really sounds like to me that you have your clutch cable to tight or not tight enough. I just got done with my swap and the same thing happpened. I could not get into any gears with the car started but it would ease right in every gear when the car was off. Most of my friends were there and we were all thinking it could be a shot clutch or the pilot bearing but it was just the cable to tight. Took like two minutes to loosen and drove it off..
