Default 205/50/15

Anyone running this size tire? I need new wheels and I'd rather not buy tires for the 17" konig bricks that are on the car now and was looking at black racing n1's and wanted to go with the falken 615's but this is the only size I could find.

I did find one thread pertaining to this but it wasn't much help. Car will be autoX'd once a month (thats as frequent the events here are ) but I will also be driving this pig to Pittsburgh this summer. So I would like to hear from someone who has some experince with this size.

Also anyone running +38 offset, from what I have read it will be a close fit. Just want to see if anyone else has a similar set-up.

well 205/55/15 is a stock size (for 4th gens) so i shouldn't see a problem with this

That offset is gonna suck. You'll really be able to feel the torque steer on take off. They will fit though. As will those tires, but your speedometer will be off by just a little

yeah think i will be off by 2 mph at 60 (reads 60 but im going 58-ish). The offset I kinda figured was screwed but I kinda wanted the particular rim that had that offset, the black racing rims are a better offset..like 44 or so i think.
Just wondering if gas mileage would suffer terribly. I know the gearing will be a little lower due to a smaller circumfrence just wondering by how much is all. Was hopeing someone was running soemthing like this and could chime in.

you are gonna have to go through a few extra calculations to find your gas mileage now.

I don't know if you care about how many miles are on your car, but with a smaller tire you will be puting more miles on the odometer than you actually drive

Your gearing won't change, but your perception of it will. 1 mile will equal around .9 miles, maybe less

205/50/15 is not stock for 4th gen. its 205/55/15. better choice for you would be 205/50/16 it was also a recomended standard for 4th. or try 215/45/16 or 225/45/16 that = better grip with approximately same height.

You can get some 215/45/16s on some 16x7 inch rims. That would be less than 1% different in diameter compared to stock, so the gearing will not change but it would give you much more grip.

so pirate your saying 215/45/16 would be nearly the same diameter as the stock 205/55/15? i was just wondering because im getting 16" c8's soon and im contemplating tire sizes. i have the stock 15's with 205/50/15, with a 1.5 drop now, and i could prob fill the well a bit more. or should i go with 215or205/50/16?

Yeah but god luck finding an affordable decent tire in that size. Personally I think that is the perfect sized tire for the size and weight of our cars, But I couldnt find any I liked.

I picked up some Azenis 615 in that size last week. There is also a 225 and a 205 width available.

Though it is not really ideal, you can use the 225 width tires on a 7" rim.

225/45/16 is almost identical in height to 205/50/16 (even bit lower as i remember) but with waaaay more grip. the question is, how fine will 225 look on 7" wheel. dont think 7" is wide enough.

^you are wrong

i have rota C8's 16 x 7

i use es100s with size 225/45/16 and dropped on h & r springs. the offset should be 40 on C8s.

225 are fine on 7 inch rims and provide some cushion for the rims. but you can definatly tell the edges of the 225 are not used much unless you go auto-x alot or track. (which i wouldn't recommend the es100, they lose grip after a few laps)

yes you need harder tires. soft compound heat up fast and then they become like a butter on the road. not sure about 225 on 7" im not complaining. i had 225 on 8" and they were just fine

what are you refering to? if you are tracking........you want softer tires

you want longevity? get harder

Didn't even look to see if they came in that size...hmm guess I'll continue shopping. Thanks. But now it's opend a new can of worms in the rim department.
I think the reason you wouldn't wanna run the wider tires on a 7" rim is because the tire wouldn't be stretched over the wheel correctly. Making the tire "cup" slightly.
