tranny question?

i just got a new tranny for my 96 EK civic (D16y7). the tag on the tranny says it's from a 01 civic. will this fit in my car? thanks.

If it's from an '01 Civic, it uses cable-actuated shift linkage instead of the rod linkage found on '00 and earlier Civics.
