Shifter Bushings
Car has 122k on it and i figured that maybe its time to replace those bushings. Plus a friend of mine with a GSX said it felt alot better and helped clean up his shifts. Does anyone make these for a 5th Gen ?
none that are mass-produced. some people have custom bushings. there's only one on the shift lever itself. there are four between the shifter base and the sheetmetal on the floor. I tried urethane in those 4 positions and wasn't impressed. I currently have one larger washer on top and no bushings and it feels great. The shifter base on the 5th gen is plastic so there are no issues bolting it straight to the floor.
the Mitsu shifter is very different from ours (in addition to being a complete piece of ****
) there are bushings at the pivot point that you can replace. We bascally have a lever with a ball on one end that fits into a socket. when you move the lever, you move the shift cable that is attached to the lever. Civics and Tegs have replacable bushings at the pivot point so you'll see kits for those cars all over the place but none of those will work on a Prelude.
I've tried just about everything with my shifter and the best setup has been a PSPEC short shifter with the OEM bushings removed. Adapters are a waste of $$, the Lean SS was ok but not quite as nice, urethane bushings weren't very helpful.
