what does a transmission cooler do(auto tranny)?
well, obviously it cools my automatic transmission...
but what are some advantages to having one? is it more ideal for, say a FI car rather than a NA car(bolt-ons only)?
is it advantageous for everyday driving?

Transmission fluid kinda has the same properties as motor oil does , when it starts getting too hot in the tranny the fluid starts breaking down and begins loosing its properties that help aid the auto with shifting and so on . When the fluid starts breaking down it also starts turning into a thick fluid that will plug up certain "veins" in the tranny and will eventually starve the tranny of the fluid and the tranny goes dead . The only use I have seen a cooler used in was on autos used in racing and so on , where the driver demands alot from the transmission . As far as every day driving I don't see where there would be a need for one , But if you live in a particularly hot climate and do alot of stop and go driving and racing on the weekend . I don't see how it would hurt to have one either .
