Last night i was driving down the highway and noticed the motor started tapping.
pulled off to see what it was and decided to check the oil. it was empty. the oil light hadn't come on at all. after adding oil, the noise isn't as bad. it's just a tapping coming from the head(i think)

when i checked the oil, it wasn't showing on the dipstick...i only added about 3 qts and now it's a bit over the top mark on the dipstick.

i pulled the valve cover off today and all of the exhaust rockers and cam lobes are scratched pretty bad. i checked the valve lash and it's still within spec.
the motor still runs strong, just like before, but won't idle. it stalls if you push in the clutch and let off the gas. could this just be because of the rocker/cam situation? or is something else probably messed up?


any ideas?
