1983 prelude starts and idles OK, when I put it in gear the engine dies. Vehicle is
auto trans, carburated model. Any suggestions will be helpful!!PEACE

check for vacuum leaks, adjust the idle, also, i could be wrong, but that could be a torque converter problem??? Im not very experienced with autos....

 

1983! Damn, there are hardly any of those left around. My dad had an 81, 82, 85, and 97 prelude.. and I own an 97 SH now. Sorry off topic.

But I think it may be vacuum related as well.

 

fuel filter possibily.

if you stay on the gas a little bit when you put it into gear does it still die?
