My neighbor was looking into a few performance mods for his 99 accord ex 2.3 sedan since he just recently got a full audio system and the car is (no surprise) feeling a little porky. After some research, just wanted to second a few things.

First- is it entirely worth it to spend around 1k on i/h/e, or are the gains minimal if you stop after that? (no turbo etc.)

Just a few more questions, i know i'm thowing it all into one thread but, he's looking more for pickup than real racing gains, so would short ram be a better alternative to CAI?

Once again, wondering about prices and if the 1k price tag is worth the apparently minimal gains?


EDIT: Just wanted to say hi, i'm 16 and will be driving within the year but have been following honda-tech/clubrsx for a while.

 

To most the gains with IHE are definitely not worth the price tag. The first question is does he have an auto or a manual? If he has an auto he's better off not doing anything simply because those trannys break under normal V6 power (200) so anything near that power level is already risking it.
