Default 4x114 ITR

Hey guys,

I just had a question, my friend is about to complete 4x114 suspension in his crx but before we start we just wanted to know is it a very complicated process or is it just bolt up? Any feedback would be appreciated.

The ITR front kunckle/suspension uses a different geometry than the 88-91 civic. I don't think you can just bolt it up and have it work properly. although there is a way to swap the hub and bearing assembly over, but I'm pretty sure you need the larger knuckle from the 90-91 EX or a 90-93 integra.

The rear trailing arm will bolt up, but it pushes the rear wheels outward by another .5" or so.

Ok here's an update:

The rotors fit on the hub BUT, the prelude rotor which I'm using is physically bigger then the type r one. By about a quarter or half inch. If I wasn't on my phone I would post the pics but sidekick2 can't post pics it sucks. Anyway the type-r caliper won't reach the mounting points and holes due to the increase in size. Can anyone give me some pointers? Will the 92-96 prelude vtec caliper bolt up to my type-r hub?

The reason for that is '96 ITR brake swaps really aren't the 97+ ITR brakes. '96s use GSR sized brake rotors and calipers just with the 4x114 stud spacing. To use Prelude Vtec rotors (basically 4 lug versions of 97+ ITR rotors) you need Accord Wagon mounting brackets for the calipers or you can run non Vtec Prelude rotors and just have GSR sized brakes.

The ITR knuckles will bolt up but the geometry will be much different than stock. People on here **** and moan about running DA/DB knuckles on EFs but if someone wants to mount DC parts so they can use Type R stuff no one says a word.

Good luck with your swap. Get it aligned. Don't let anyone on here tell you it'll be fine as long as you do it their way.

Ok I have it figured out now. (Thanks katman) all you have to do is get 90-91 civic ex front knuckles with everything there and get the itr hub pressed in. Everything is the same on the ex hub assembly and the itr hub assembly down to the rotor size and caliper positioning. Si-R knuckles would also work. Then the rears just bolt right up if you use the type-r trailing arm.
