Default '90CRXSI project thread....

Well, here you go.... new carpet, shifter, shift boot, and seats are on the way!

The center console was severly scratched, so I tried painting it black after smoothing out the scratches, and it did'nt look good at all....So, I gave red a shot, and I actually like it! (it matches my new seats good!)

The shfter and the boot are 'new car' presents from my wife. The shifter led was BRIGHT BLUE, and it drove me crazy. So we switched it out with a soft glowing red led, and it looks pretty good, nice and suttle at night. I problably would'nt have wired it up, but my it was a gift from my loving wife, and she thought its the coolest thing. So, here you go!

I know....I told my wife when she gave it to me that I was'nt going to wire it, but she looked kinda sad... So, I hooked it up, was blinded by the brightness of the electric blue, and said you gotta be kidding me! So, being a computer/electronics repair guy, I had some LEDs laying around and just swapped a less powered red one into it with a resistor in the wiring to tone down the brightness. Now, it looks rather calm and kinda cool at night!

Looks nice and clean, though I agree the red needs to be toned down abit. The minimalistic application kind of clashes with such a bright color.

sorry, but i think the red center console is terrible. You also need an e-brake handle and glove compartment cover. And the mugen shiftboot looks cheap. please excuse me for being so harsh, im exhausted right now.

I think it looks good dude I mean sure maybe a tad radical, all in all though it prolly looks better than the scratchs so it really doesnt matter what any1 thinks as long as you like it and as for your led shift ****...well thats a cool present I wish I had a wife around here giving me cool **** like that and ofcourse you had to hook it up what would be the point of it without it being hooked up

I can understand, but, the seats I'm getting will really match....there actual leather crx seats, black with red inserts.... Otherwise I would'nt have gone red!

90_EF_Si: I beleive it is a real mugen boot...However, it was in the car when I got, along with another Mugen boot that is a nice black leather with red stitching that I'd RATHER USE, but it wont fit?!!?!? There is also a Mugen computer chip.....However, I dont know if its a real chip, or a knockoff, and I'm assuming the boots came with it? I'll post pics of the other boot and chip and see what you guys think!

Stockcivic103: I'd love to be able to sell the stock seat(I'd actually keep it if I had it!), unfortunately, It did'tn have one when I got it! I do have the passenger one, but was thinking of holding on to that. The drivers seat you see is actually out of a 99 civic hatch, I have the passenger one as well. However, they dont fit the CRX without brackets or modifications...but they are for sale! PM me if your interested in those, as I dont want much for em!

As for the RED being too bright and radical...I almost agree! However, it was getting dark when the pics were taken, and the flash was one, so it seems to be much brighter in the photos! During the day, it looks good, not soo bright. Also, the scratches were soo deep and big that it gave the console a grayish look where they were...SO, I ended up using a filler, and sanding it smooth. Like I said, I tried black/graphite color on it and it looked really bad! The red is the only thing I could think of, althought, now that I think back, silver may have looked good? Either way, it beats paying 60+ for another one.

The carpet, beleive it or not, I got off of ebay! $134.90 was the total price shipped from Stock_Interiors! NOW, it was a pain to install, as it is molded which I prefered, but there are NO cutouts on it! Your supposed to lay your old carpet over it and do the cutouts that way! My car came with ZERO interior, so I had to do it all by measuring/looking and what not.....and it was a pain! But it was worth it because, we'll, you can see how good it came out!

as far as needing a e brake boot and glove compartment, like I said, the car came with NO interior, so everything you see in the photos was purchased off ebay or out of junk yards!(the only thing included in the purchase of the car was a dash and console!) Since the purchase, I have gotten the engine running(which did not), which runs amazingly smooth now, pieced together the interior, which was also missing the complete sunroof assy, all the trim, and some engine components. Anyways, those are almost the only two pieces I need to complete the interior aside form a passenger door and its interior panel. I'll post more pics as I move along. Thanks for the feedback!

I know of a pair of seats that will look great in there! Let me know when your dad can pick them up. Still looking for the rest of your parts.

I agree with pretty much what everyone else said. I want to take a nap on that carpet it's so nice! Not a fan of the red, but if you get some red racing seats it may be neutralized. It draws too much attention in my opinion. Looks like you also need a cig lighter and ash tray

Jeez, those look just like the seats I'm getting!

I sent the check to my dad, and was waiting on word from you about the other parts... He should have the money, probly wednesday or thursday, so maybe he can get with you this weekend. I dont think I can afford to do much more of anything at the moment due to stinkin taxes... but definetly let me know what you can find and how much things are, who knows, maybe I can swing it!

Also, I'm thinking of taking some time off and coming back home for a visit to get some more of my crap that I never got to move down here....if so, I'll let you know and maybe we can meet up and go get parts?

You are correct! However, I'm gonna not worry about the cig lighter as I have no need for it...but the ash tray will definetly clean it up! Also, I have a sony xplod thats in great shape (red and silver) in my Ram at the moment....Its goin in the rex since that will be my new daily driver.

CRXBart has hooked me up with a pair of red and black seats.

Right now, I'm working on my engine...needing a new timeing belt and water pump....and unfortunately, I just found out that my 1990 CRX SI......well, its got a d15b2 in it. Not the d16....I know its not a bad thing necessarily, but a bit of a dissapoinment......SO, that starts my plans/preparations for a swap...but wont happen till probly winter, or even next winter (wanna build my garage first!)

Sounds good brother! Just let me know. Unfortunitly when I went yard shopping, they all closed early for the weekend, except my one buddy, who is always high in more ways than one. The door he has is MINT, but mint or not, I wouldn't ever pay $250 for a door.

LOL....

Perhaps as a last resort, IF I cant find a door anywhere else, we'll check that one out. If its still there (at that price, I bet it will be!)

Yeah no doubt I've bought a whole car for less than half of that, and few for $50 more. Defitily let me know, We can certainly hit up some yards for some junkyard action.

Looks pretty good. You should replace your pedal pads too. You can get some nice rubber OEM style ones at Autozone for $5-10. Really does more for the interior than you'd think.
