Default ITR Final Drive, what is the benefit of swapping this into my B16 trans?

I've read some topics in the past about swapping the B16 final drive with an ITR final drive, and I was wondering what that will change as far as speeds or acceleration. Thanks.

the best way i can explain that to you is this: think of the old days with muscle cars. How guys with chevelles would change out their "rear end" to a 373 or 410. It basically improves acceleration. But decreases top end. In a B16 trans. i think personally that the gears are already really close. a type-r final drive would be too much! But thats my opinion. This might help you out=www.fatboyraceworks.com go to gear ratio calc. and compare diff. trannys and type in diff. final drives. theres two type-r final drives. 4.4:1 and 4.785:1. My suggestion: for a street/strip car either low or high horsepower, i would run a LS tranny. maybe a type-r final with a stock B16. but I dunno cause my buddy has a ek hatch with a B16 I/H/E coupled to a LS tranny and it RIPS! Best e.t= 14.5 Im building a 2.0 liter turbo bored and stroked GSR. est. 600-650whp and I will be running an LS tranny with a 4.4:1 final drive. Sorry to be LS opinionated but i have never seen an LS tranny break but b16 and GSR trans seem to be temprimental at times.

ITR FD= More acceleration
Downside is, I wouldn't want to drive that on the highway.. unless you swap out an LS 5th gear when you do that FD.

Yeah, the B16 gears are already pretty close, and 5th gear already sucks as far as cruising on the highway. If you're doing 70 the rpms are at around 3500-4000, which is pretty damn loud. Since this is my daily driver I think I'll just stick with the already annoying B16 trans.
