Honestly who cares about a ******* fender when the kid just lost a house. Where is he living now? That would be my number 1 concern.

Well he is staying wherever he can at the moment.
Waiting on insurance to fix the house. His father owns the house and he WAS staying in it. He has told me that he was staying in his car.
I thought it would be a nice gesture to help him out with his car since it is ALL he has left.

Needless to say I called the State Troopers and they said it was not legal without numbers. Which is what I thought. They said it was stolen in 1998 in Dekalb Georgia.

Agreed, not to say you are scamming people but this sounds a little hard to believe.
A link to some local news listing would help prove that your story is legitimate and that people just aren't shelling money out to you for no good reason.
It's a sad thing to request, but we do have these types of scam artists out there these days.

After thinking about this for a minute I decided that maybe you thought I am being dishonest. If you are in doubt I will give you the local police or fire dept number and you can call to verify. This one horse town does not have a website for the news.
