Default just picked up an 89 dx for 200 bucks...problems...

i picked up an 89 civic dx for $200. the guy who sold it to me said it wouldnt run becuase "a piston was seized" according to his mechanic.

i put a new battery in and the car started right up!

alot of white smoke from the exhaust tho, i took out the spark plugs and they were drenched in oil (threads, and where the electrode is) as well as black and brownish looking.
car has about 200k miles it also shuts off from time to time when i come to a full stop after driving...or sputters like it wants to shut off but then doesnt

could bad o-rings or spark plug tube seals be causing the excess oil on the plugs?
bad headgasket possibly?

i have a SOHC 92 dx motor in my garage, can i just swap the long blocks and use my obd0 dpfi manifold, dizzy and altenator?

I'm gonna assume that since its memorial day weekend, ALOT of people are out camping/at the beach/visiting relatives, which is probly we were not gettin replies.

I'm not sure about your problem, but yeah, o rings for the plugs can cause excess oil on the plugs, but the shutting off could be the plugs fouling out due to the oil on the electrodes...and the oil on the electrodes could be from bad piston seals, bad valve seals, valve gaske cover maybe? If it was the head gasket, I think that youd have antifreeze mixing with the oil, and you could tell by the milky look from the oil. I'm not a mechanic, but I hope that helps?
