Power Door Lock Question?
I have a 91 CRX Si that I recently discovered had an aftermarket power door lock put in before i bought it. I didnt know this until I took off the door panels. My question is...how can i keep these and get them to work?.. The Wires are already run for them...but how do i hook them up....and also, how do i get a keypad for it?.. I would hate to go get new ones when these are already there..kinda of a waste. TIA!!
If all you have is the door lock actuators with the 2 wires run into the car, you can test them by supplying a ground to one of the wires and putting 12V+ to the other, the lock will go in one direction, then reverse the inputs, [12V+ to the other wire and ground to the other one] the lock will move in the other direction, called "polarity reversing" once you know that the actuators are good and which wires a which you wire them like this to a pr of SPDT relays... http://www.the12volt.com/doorlocks/page3.asp#arp if you are not installing an alarm to control them, [key-less entry] you can add a SPDT momentary switch to supply a ground trigger to the same terminals as the alarm lock/unlock.

Ok...so now i know how to hook up the wires, but what do I do for a keypad? (Keyless Entry). I am also getting an alarm today, should I just wire it to that? How do I do that? Thanks!
Yes, just use the alarm, depending on alarm you get, some have door-lock relays built in but all will have at least neg. (-) door lock outputs, those will be the ones you connect to the relays, if the alarm you get has the relays built in then you do not need the relays I mentioned, and wiring for the on-board ones will come with the alarm.
Feel free to IM me if you have any questions.
