trying to finish my B18B1 turbo setup in my eg, but I need to fix this fuel problem.

fuel pressure was at 40 PSI with stock fuel pump & FPR
I installed a brand new Walbro 255 HP fuel pump.
fuel pressure raises to 52psi.
install an adjustable FPR, adjusted to lowest setting,
Fuel pressure is still at 52psi.
installed stock fuel pump
fuel pressure is at 20psi, (since its at lowest)
put the walbro back in
fuel pressure is back to 55PSI
swapped my walbro for a brand new walbro 255 HP
Fuel pressure is still at 52PSI
installed stock FPR
pressure is still at 52PSI
installed stock Fuel pump
pressure is normal and back to 40PSI
checked for kinked return line
checked vacuum pm FPR
vacuum is at -20
finally installed a 3rd walbro pump from my friends turboed car.
pressure is back to 52PSI

my car has a new fuel filter.
a new fuel pulsator on the other end of the fuel rail.
I was trouble shooting this with the tuner on his dyno at his shop.
playing with the ECU he got the pressure down to 48PSI
tested Voltage at fuel pump, it was normal.


why are walbro 255 HP fuel pumps raising my pressure up 12 PSI ?

I have 2 friends with turboed B18B1s, both with walbro 255 HP pumps. both stock FPR, both with guaues at 40`42 PSI Fuel pressure.

please help me

 

what regulator r u using? and u should not be concerned about that high fuel pressure. i usually run cars at 60 psi (if they dont have a rising rate fuel pressure regulator)

 

a walbro fuel pump is going to raise your fuel pressure no matter what. you need an adj. fpr to lower it back down to stock setting.

what adj fpr are you using?

 

The high pressure Walbro pumps such a high volume of fuel that the bleed hole in the FPR is too small to return enough fuel to keep the pressure down. You need to enlarge the bleed hole in the FPR.

Sounds like you are running a B&M FPR modifier
