launching RPM with slicks !
I was launching at about 6500 this was as high as i could launch due to my stock ecu rev limit in first gear. I did pretty good but I wish I could have tried launching higher.

A/C, passenger seat, rear seats, rear seatbelts, 30 lbs of sound deadener I added along time ago, padding under carpet, padding/rubber on firewall.
With skinny steelies on the back, I might finally be under 2000 without driver.

alright, that sounds more like it. sound deadening added. crap my CX just has nothing. i could pull the wiper motor, heater core but i might just need those next winter. i just couldnt figure out where that much weight was comin from. thanx for that info.
I have varied my lauch rpm from 6550 to 6850 to 7000 (with Hondata, two stage rev-limiter etc). I found the key was more in adequate tire heating in the burning, than in the launch rpm (i.e. 60 foot times were always around 1.82-1.86).
Also, go with a second gear burnout.

yes on the 2nd gear burnout. When done properly you'll drag the rear tires through the water box and all the way to the staging beams.
People still laugh at me when they here the rpms at over 7k for launch. The silence of WTF when I holeshot their buddy in the stang = priceless!

On M/T 14x8x20 on Bogarts, Im launching at 5500 RPM
And getting 1.82 60fts.
On M&H 13x8x22 on Bogarts, I’m launching at 6500rpm
And getting 1.74 60fts.
You just have to feel for what the slicks like at it. And don’t over do it like launching at 7500 when it doesn’t need to. So you reduce the risk of breaking axles or differentials.

SOHC all motor CRX
And getting 1.82 60fts.

I'd love a 1.799 60 ft!
THX!
for those using 22x8x15 m/t slicks, how much psi are you usingand when you launch that high are you guys dumping the clutch? how are you guys lauching them? i heard m/t slicks need more air in them is this true?
12-14 psi, let clutch out as fast as possible WITHOUT sidesteping it.
I pul my left leg back as fast as possible when the last yellow comes on.

What RPM you guys launch at when you have on slicks ( M/T , etc ) ?
i have a 92 LS with intake,ehaust,no cat,gutted int.ohh yeah i am runnig between 10-15 psi in the slicks also.[Modified by 89-ED-bcumbie, 2:20 PM 4/28/2002]
sidestepping means EXACTLY what is sez.
When your ready to GO!, you move your left foot to the left and let clutch SLAM into action.
With motor off, slide you foot to the left of the clutch pedal when it is one the floor.
Do this with motor runnning and you might be looking at scattered parts.

i am lauching between 6200 and 6500 RPM on 14X6 MT slicks on 14" steelies. My 60' time is 1.9-2.1 depending on how i hook up.

Lower than 12-13 psi and my slicks are spinning on the rim. Time to screw them down.
