Default D4 Light

I have 93 Honda Prelude. While driving this afternoon, the indicater light (the one telling me I was in D4) started blinking. The car still ran fine. No noises, etc; however the blinking of the light concerned me. I down shifted into D3, and the D4 light remained blinking while the now D3 indicator light was now lit, for I was in that gear. I parked, the light continued to blink. I turned off the engine and restarted. All seemed to be fine for several minutes, but after I drove for about a mile, it happened again. So, being a mile from home, I continued. But what problem could cause this indicator light to blink?

Thankyou

The light flashes because the bulb is bad? That wouldn't make any sense. Anyway, I did a search, and I think this thread might help:

if a buld is starting to go out it can do that yes. i didn't say burnt out. the filament<sp> starts to lose the ability to hold together but the electricity can still get through a little bit cause it to blink
but your link is much better

I think that would be better described by flickering and not blinking.

As soon as the car enters fourth gear, it begins to blink until the car is turned off.

Thankyou for the research,
I am going to take the Honda to a friend of mine and have him look at the computer. It was very helpful.

For those who want to know, the problem turned out to be a senson that went bad on the transmission. It was a quick fix once the part came.
