Default How to remove speed limiter?

I've already done a search for speed limiter with no results

My 98 Spec JDM Type R has a speed limiter at 200 kmph (about 125mph)

Anybody has experience removing the speed limiter? It has a spoon chip with remapped fuel and ignition riding on the stock ECU. I believe it's an OBD1 ECU.

Can I use the Apexi RSM to remove my speed limiter?

Any other ideas? Cheapest / Simplest solution?

Thats right, my JDM Type R ecu cut off at 125 mph also, thats SUCKS. I have a chipped p28 ecu, to resolve that problem.

Yeah use the rsm. My 96spec also tops out at 125, 130 on the speedo. 4wires to connect it up, or all 6 to remove the speed limiter. I left mine in coz it keeps me license intact

why would you need to drive so fast? Jsut seeing my needle dip past 180kph on my JDM cluster is enough of a thrill for me.

If you race at the track you dont need that, but for the people who race at the street 125 is when the action start. What about you having a Type R and get beat by a Prelude just because your stupid ecu cut off at 125. Its all about win not lose.

I think you meant if i DONT race at the track. Yeah I dont anymore and even then 100 mph is fast enough for me. I like beating people in the corners. not the straights.

If you want to retain a stock ECU you can always switch to a USDM unit.

Only idiots do those speeds on the street. Take it to the track. I always said that if I start hitting the speed limiter in fifth on the track then I'll remove. Till it holds me back on the track it stays put.

It's difficult to discern whether or not you are joking, but if you are serious, this is one of the most blatant examples of stupidity that I've come across in this forum in quite a while.

No joke about it, this is not a stand up comedy forum. Is not stupidity, is reality. Open your eyes, go out saturday night at the meetings and ask to those people that drops thousands of dollars in there engines, ex. turbos and high compresion nitrous setup if they dont go over 125 mph because is stupid, they dont give a fu@$ about that. I say I go past 125, if I do it or not is my problem, but the reality is that. Accept, you like it or not most of this people go over that mph.

The two are not mutually exclusive. It may indeed be "reality", but it is stupid nevertheless.

Thanks for the answer guys.

Guess i'll shop around for a Apexi RSM. Any cheaper way to do it other than Rechipping? What is a P28 Chip or ECU?

Would the RSM work on a 2002 Honda integra Type R. I know the 98 has a B series. However the 02 has a K series.

Dude ... If you're drag racing a lightly modified R or equivelent car and you get up to 125 MPH and the race is NOT over yet, you have issues.

But I guess this is where you drift the corner and hit the NOS to fly over the drawbridge that's being raised in front of your eyes

..... Yeah, you know you've all seen it.
