Help!!! Hack job/cd player no workie
I had my cd player face stolen earlier this week and now that the weekend is here I'm installing a new cd player. The car is a 98 civic by the way and here is the problem. When I pulled the Pioneer 3300 deck out the stock radio was stuffed behind the dash and all the wires for the Pioneer unit had been cut and spliced into the factory harness with the power wires still going to the stock radio. Lucky me I picked up another pioneer deck so swapping the wires was a snap. The only problem is the thing will not kick on. I've tried pulling a direct power source from the battery and all and it still gives me nothing. The old unit worked awsome and I plugged the new one in just the same but still I have silence. If you know how to fix my problem please help. I drive a long distence and also travel for work so this past week has really sucked just hearing road noise.
Thanks
Thanks

Kick on? Silence? Does the head unit turn on and give you silence or does it not turn on at all? If it turns on, check your speaker wiring. If it doesn't turn on, check your power/ground connections. If those are good, you have a bad head unit.

it doesnt power on at all. Should I reconnect all the original wires and buy a wiring harness? Do these cars have some kind of anti theft device that is making it not power on?
Thanks

If your wires are long enough and you don't plan on replacing the head unit often, then I think it's a waste of money to get a harness. That wouldn't make a difference anyway.

Nope. You said that you hooked it up directly to the battery and it still wouldn't turn on. Doing that would bypass any anti theft device (if one was there). You should have a fuse on the back of the headunit or inline with its power wire. Check if that is still good.

Thanks</TD></TR></TABLE> Yes get the "T" harness... http://www.scosche.com/scosche...HA07B
or if you have an alarm or are going to get one, get this harness... http://www.scosche.com/scosche...HAK3B
wire the alarms power door lock outputs to the cars door locks, and get rid of the oem HU, it is only there because you need it for the oem key less entry, [RF section].
I do agree with 02 accord check the fuses both on the new HU and the 2 for the oem HU, [fuse 47 - 7.5A in under hod fuse box, hot at all times] and, [fuse 28 - 10A in under dash fuse box, hot in acc. or on] also check what size the new HUs constant power fuse is, [yellow lead], if it is a "high power" HU, it may have a 10A-20A fuse, if it does you will need to run a fused 12ga power wire directly from the batt. to behind the HU and connect the HUs yellow to it, [just like you would for the power to an off-board amp.

PS.... what is the make and model of the new HU?
