Omnipower Coilovers: New EF/CRX design feedback.....
Ok, I want to get some coilovers for my 91 Crx. I am going to using this car for street/strip use, but dont mind a stiff ride if need be. I would honestly rather have too stiff, then not stiff enough. I have just gone through the archive topics about the omnipower suspension (first design) and the problems people were having.
The main problem that I realized people were having with the first design was that the front could not be lowered alot without changing the preload. I then read that omnipower was going to fix this problem with their "new" design coilover.
First, these seem to be the "newly designed" EF version of the full coilover kit:
http://www.omnipowerusa.com/Pr...r.asp
I like the design of these but havent really heard much about whether or not these "new design" coilovers have allowed the front to be lowered alot more than the previous design.......one thing that i wanted in my coilover was an adjustability of compression and rebound, which these below have......
http://www.omnipowerusa.com/Pr...s.asp
but it states on the bottom of the page "*(Must Use EG/DC Front Forks & Large Aftermarket 'Rear' Sway Bar May Hit The Rear Shock Bodies) "
Please correct me if I am wrong, but isnt one of the reasons for the first design coilovers not allowing the front to be lowered alot was the fact that u had to use the EG/DC forks?? Is this Adjustable Dampener a "new design" also or is it just a adjustable (rebound/compression) version of the first omnipower design.
I want to be able to adjust rebound/compression with my coilover kit, but I dont want to use the old design that doesnt allow the front to be lowered that much
It would be great if someone has pictures of the old design dropped compared to the new design dropped.........I have read through the numerous threads of about the coilovers but havent decided what I should do.
Lets keep the feedback to things that will progress the information about these coilovers and not tell people to "search" about the topic when it obviously hasnt been recently covered to a full extent....

I'm also in here for more info...if anyone has these for the EF, please respond
I'm surprised omniman has never chimed in when asked about these..

As I was reading topic after topic about the old coilovers, I didnt come along any threads with the coilovers breaking or anything, just the issue of the front of the car not lowering enough.........

Yeah, lots of complains about the first design. Looks like everyone moved on to other brands. Day late, and a dime short w/ the new design(if it even fixes the problem). Lots of other coilovers getting good reviews though. Check the suspension forum for lots of good info!

I have been eye balling these as well as the D2 racing coilovers, and maybe the simple GC/Koni yellow combo.....I really wanted to try the omni's out just because I heard they are so good for drag for OTHER applications but cant seem to find any good reviews for the EF

I know people kept using the EG ones but I want to talk to someone who has the new design ones for the EF.....and see how they ride and feel and if they are any better dropwise and quality.

I don't think quality was ever an issue, just the ride height adjustment was a sticking point for some EF owners.
I had my Omni's on for a couple months before pulling the car apart. They were the old design and I wasn't too disappointed with the height.
One thing I'm seeing on the ad is a disclaimer for the large rear sway bar hitting the shock bodies. I had my rear threaded down as far as it would go with a progress rear sway installed and don't remember any clearance problems, so I wonder what's changed?

I never thought that the quality was bad, but in some older threads I read a couple times about people who had them break or leak.....but it wasnt from personal experience and thats why I am here, to find out more about these coilovers

And that disclaimer is ONLY on the page with the Adjustable Dampeners but not with the Full Coilover, thats what lead me to believe that the the adjustable dampeners are just like the first design coilovers. And on the "full coilover" it has the words NEW while the other page doesnt.........

gotcha....Im looking for some feedback in the DRAG set-up
gotcha....Im looking for some feedback in the DRAG set-up
I used the 2nd gen design on an EG.
Fit & Finish is superb.
Adjustability (on EG!!) was great.
Ride quality at speed was awesome.
Ride quality at low speed was really bouncy.
Non-adjustable shocks are a reallr really big letdown, and steered me away from them for my own crx.
If they fix that, they'll be golden!
