Default noob civic 93 dx starting problem HELPP!!

i changed my sparkplugs, wires, main relay, new battery and bought a whole new distributor. the crank sounds pretty strong.my friend says im gettin' fuel.

I got my car to start a couple of times but after like 10-15 secs, my check engine light will turn on, the car will rev up and down a bit by itself 2 times then the car dies. i would be able to start the car a few more times after that and it will do the samething. After a few more tries, the car won't be able to turn over anymore.

Can someone help me? Even my friends are stumped about it.

make sure everything is installed right, and pull your code. That will point you in the right direction, or you can post it up here and we can help some more.

hmm.. thanks. im sure everything is installed right. i have friends that done swaps before also. but they are still stumped about how it's not starting.

and code? reading?? how do i do that???

earlier today, i talked to a mechanic which was a friend of my brothers, he said it's probably the fuel pump? he also asked me if the distributor was new or not. which it is. it doesn't seem that is the problem either.

so im guessin' that i should go with him and think it's the fuel pump? Since i had the car, i never changed the fuel pump at all. my friends knows what to listen for to hear the fuel pump to make sound, and i have no idea how it does, they discribe it but im still kinda ehhhh about how it's actually suppose to sound like heh..

????

sounds like a cross wire or somthing cause when i swap"d my car and i installed my new ecu my motor kept reving up and down becasue i didn"t have all the wires right and my cel kept coming on also so it could be a bad ecu but if your car isn"t swap"d then maybe just cross wires

hmm.. well the wires all seem to line up correctly. i mean im sure all the plugs are different in there own way? or maybe i should unplug my ecu and replug it back in?

doesn't sound electrical like the wires they're all talkin about, eithe rtiming or plug order, or something stupid to that effect, tho if ur throwin a code, might wanna get that checked, jump the 2 wire plug next to ur ECU and turn on the ignition to the "on" position, but don't crank, ur CEL will flash, long flash means 10, fast means 1, so like |||||||||||||....|...|...............||||||||||||| ||||....|....| means 12, it'll keep repeating

actually.. i forgot to add that the motor that i dumped into the car is a 95 vx. my car is a dx. Would that make any difference??? i remember while my friends were droppin' it in, the wire harness for the vx motor had another plug which didn't connect to anything. the car was showing the same symptoms as it is now when we tried to start it. then like a week later, we decided to swap the harness with my old DX one. it kinda worked for a bit but ended up acting the same. Is there a big difference between the dx and vx??? From what i thought, it should basically be the same.

Well 2 days ago, i went to go start on my car and it turned on just fine but after a minute, it started to just rev up and down but it didn't shut off. Then just lastnight, i tried to start on the car again, It cranked but didn't turn over. Cranked it a few times and i heard the car sorta fartin' lol. But the car kinda shook and make some kinda of gargle noise like it was tryin to turn on but it didn't.

anybody??????
