Default h22a CUTS at 5500 rpm's . . . . .

When I reach 5500 rpm's it just acts like its hitting a rev limiter or something and cuts off. I have taken it to every shop in town and no one has even gave me a clue or idea on what to do.

- The check engine light doesn't error.

- The h22a swap has never passed 5500 rpm's. Been driving it for 2 months and everytype of variable it quits at 5500 rpm. Vtec feels like it kicks in around 4000.

The shop that did the swap said they used the ECU that came with the motor, but I'm about to go swap my buddies h22a ECU into mine quick and run a test.

cut off at 5500...that's pretty daymn low...I think you may be swaping sensors wires around...a faulty sensor will put you in limp-mode which cuts off at 6200...I say check your wiring.

there arent many things that will put you in limp mode. There are however things that will lower the rev limiter.

-News Update-

Today I swapped my ECU with my friend's ECU who has an h22a also. Here is what we found:

His ECU in my car made it to 6500 rpm's before cutting off. No Vtec

My ECU in his car cut off at 5500 no vtec

Also found out I have a p14 ECU..........my friends is a p13.

ALSO found out my check engine light is either burnt out, or was ripped out by the people who did the swap.....

well, first you need to replace your CEL bulb. Then get the code for the CEL. I'm willing to bet its either knock sensor, vtec solenoid or oil pressure switch.

also, if the car has a burnt out CEL bulb, or its missing; that makes me wonder what else is wrong with the car.

shitty story man, brings back bad memories for me. The shop that did my swap, also "said" they used the p13, when they used the p14 - but the bastards also put the h23a injectors in my car - so when i easily discovered i had no vtec - and tried swapping in the p13 (that i demanded they give me to me .. perhaps they were thinking to flip it on ebay or something) the car rejected the ecu like crazy (because of the h23a injectors) - which threw me thru a loop for a while, but i'm smart like floor rug so i figured it all out in the end... I would have loved to do the swap myself, but unfortunatley the car died too far from where i live to make towing/trucking feasible.

I'm not gonna say anything new, but yea get a cel hooked up, pull the codes - figure out each one - one by one - ensure they actually wired your vtec - because they probably didn't and go from there! all the best.
