fuel pump not priming..main relay?? HELP!!!
ok so i just finished my mpfi swap, everything all hooked up .. no CEL or anything, i go to fire her up, and she wont start.. ok, weird.. i take a wire and jump the starter.. she starts, sweet!!! car idles fine for about 5 mins, after that i go to see how she revs, well its all good until about 4500 or so, not sure i dont have a tach.... but up till about there she good, then she starts to bog on me, so i turn her off and try to restart no good, however i dont hear the fuel pump prime anymore which makes me think that the bogging was due to no fuel, any help would be awesome, cuz i need it.. main relay?? ive checked everything over and over... and it was priming before... so what you guys think?? thanks in advance!!!
A few things i know for sure... Temp, Mr. Speaker and Streetwerkz, would def. no the answer..... if anything, just tell me where the main relay is....
u need to jump blk/yel and yel/blk they wires on the mani reley then check the wire at the ful sending unit clip if it shows 12 volts and fuel pump dont prim u got a bad pump.if it dont show no volts the main rely is bad .
and the main reley is behinde your lil storge box on the dash(the one that flips down)unbolt that and look up in there ull see it.unbolt it with 10mm socket.if it was priming before i wonder if u have a short in a wire somewhere?
hell yah thanks guys for the help ill check it out and let you know.. and yah it was priming before.. so a short is possible...lame but def. possible... i had the battery checked this morning.. it was good.. so now the mission continues... once again another reason why i love HT...

does your fuel pump prime? do your injectors open? does your relay make a buzzing noise?
my 2 cents would be check all fuses and grounds especially your thermostat ground!

yah i checked everything like it said in the original post.... it just happend almost intermittent... it was working before.. the car even started.. but now it wont... im taking vteckillenzc advise and checking the main relay.. that was my first guess.... the injectors and wiring is fine... no cel s or nothing... im very thorough when i do things with my car... but yah you guys are all cool as ****... thanks for helping me... much appreciated...
take off the fuel line from your fpr and try to start it,fuel should come spewing out the fpr.u know it could work one min then go to **** the next.u might want to check for open wire somwhere?
Man, mine was doing that too. I just got my car and towed it home from Virginia...and it started fine when I picked it up! When I got home, it was jacked....was definetly the main relay:

This site explains how to test and fix your relay if that is the problem.
It probly ran good for five minutes because the injectors were able to pull the remaining fuel outta the fuel lines, but the pump was'nt running (due to main relay or ?bad pump?) then there was nor more fuel, and that would cause it to not restart.
Your location SHOULD be behind the coin holder on the far left: remove the coin holder, and look in there to the far left, and it will probly be mouned next to the wall by the door.
Let me know if I can help you get it fixed!

yah checked the relay and im not getting all three clicks... i dont here the click that would make the fuel pump prime.. so ya thats where it stands going to check it and see if soldering will help, if not any ideas on where to get one on a sunday, and any idea on how much??
Most main relays take a **** in the summer. If your car is in a hot place let the doors open and cool down inside the car. The heat will heat up the solder and make starting the car hard, if possible at all. This is what happened to me recently. Good luck

The easiest way to tell if a relay is bad, hit it. its just a circut board. And its common for the contacts to go bad. OR sometimes you can just unplug another relay that is the same and swith them. Usually on the newer vechiles for checking ac compressors or condensor fans etc..
Its real easy to resolder the contacts...the hardest part of doing this is getting it out of the car! I tried autozone and advance, and neither carry it(in my area any ways) so I went to Blue Ridge Motorsports here in Morganton, and they can order it, but is like $69(can't remeber for sure) so I just re-soldered mine.
I got the relay out .... only took a few mins... not as bad as i thought... now i just gotta figure out what to do... i mean see what needs to be soldered... dang...
you could get another one, but if you got a soldering iron and some solder and some solder braid, its much cheaper! If you need help, just IM me, and I'll be more than happy to assist...
so i found it, one tip needs to be re-soldered... it looks just like the one in diagram form 88crxSI ... kinda has a circle around the base ...almost like it seperated... well it did ... haha.. so im thinking i just need to solder it up and it should be good..
