No need to take it above 8200. You dont have high compression pistons nor high lift cam shafts. so stick with stock redline

it really bugs me when people tell you what they think you should do knowing nothing about the situation instead of answering your question...

well by your post you are presenting you have a stock motor.. other wise post up on how your engine is built. if ur engine is stock then refer to my other post

my engine is stock, I'm contemplating stage 2 cams. That's why I'm asking, I'm not gonna argue semantics here, but none of that was of issue, i just asked how high the bottom end can safely rev

safely it could handle 8600-8800 but do not make a habit of it.

If ur redline is 8200 id take it to 8500 Max. Rods are weak in the honda motors. some are lucky and some arent but you dont want to make that costly mistake and take it too high and then make a bunch of pretty holes in your block.

hmm, that kinda sucks. i guess my next question would be is it even worth upgrading cams if it won't rev that high, i want skunk2's anybody know where they make their power? I've seen a lot of stock b16's rev to 9 consistantly, i'm guessing due to the shorter stroke?

Well you dont want to get cams cause u want to rev Higher.. Get some cams that produce decent low end with Excellent mid range and top end.

Cams can make power when keeping the stock redline.

When you upgrade your cams dont forget the valvetrain. Get a good source for tuning.. once u get on the dyno.. watch where your Horsepower starts to fall off. so if you make peak power at 8000 RPMs then when you are racing you would want to shift around 8400 RPMs so that you are staying in your power band.

If you feel the need to attempt to rev to 9000 then that amount of time that you are revving you are loosing those precious seconds that yo could be in your actual power band.

valvetrain is a given, but you also don't wanna shift right after you hit peak, depending on how my graph would look, if my max power was at 8, i don't think my hp at 9 would be lower than it would be after i shifted, maybe 7k? i dunno cuz i don't rev to 9. or does power fall off that quickly with aftermarket cams? on my stock cams, power actually falls off very slowly, i'm not that much below peak at readline. basically i don't want to waste my money on cams if i can't get the most out of them, and i can't afford to upgrade the bottom end as well

aftermarket cams often fall off quickly because they do not have all the Compression that they want from the motor. cause alot of cams recommend of having at list xx.x amount of compression to reach there full potential

Ive got my hondata set at 8500 redline. I souldnt go much past that with a little work done on the internals.

what is the diff between the pros and the non pros? i looked up some dyno's with skunk2 stage 2's and they make peak power around 8, are the pro's just more aggressive?
