Focus SVT or RSX Type S?
Looking at prospective cars to get...soon. I'm guessing I'm gonna get mostly "Get an RSX" replys, but...Still, just wanted to know your guys opinions on this, hasn't been a clear comparison in any magazine, and...Civic Si's look gross for 2002. So, Yeah.

This is an apples vs. oranges comparison. Focus SVT compares with the the Civic Si and the base RSX more favorably than to the RSX-S.
The SVT does 0-60 in 7.8seconds, the Si does it in 8.0 and I imagine the base RSX is in that range if not a tad faster. The RSX-S goes 0-60 in about 6.4-6.7 seconds.
But, to answer your question, the RSX-S is a better car than the Focus SVT. Now, are you willing to pay $23,000 for an Acura or $17,500 for the Ford?
Choice is yours.

Yeah, I was thinking around 6.6....
AND, The Si only does it in 8 seconds??? My stock CX hatch, according to Edmunds.com does it in 8.6...wouldn't the Si be a bit, if not a lot, faster?

Does Anyone know about Handling? Also, the SVT Focus isn't out yet,
and I think only the 2000 and 2001 Foci have had Recalls.
Actually, I think the SVT Focus will be about 19,5...I was thinking with that extra money I could get a Jackson Racing SuperCharger (M62) and then have about 230 hp @ the Flywheel.
Thanks for everyones opinions! Keep em' coming...

With the M62 S/C wouldn't the Foci be faster? Aside from that no matter how fast the Focus is, I know its still a "Ford", but....I'd really like some honest opinions. So far I've pretty much gotten "
, because its better dude." Why?

You should test drive both cars and see which one you like better. Seriously who cares what anyone on this board thinks. In the end, you'll only be happy with something you want, and not what someone else wants.
I don't think the focus looks bad. IMO if you lower it, get rims, and a front lip, it looks ******* tight as hell. The interior doesn't do me well though. Not sure if that s/c would make the focus faster.
I don't feel for the RSX interior either as it is the most american looking interior i've ever seen in a honda. The seats rock *** though.
IMO, i would take the rsx-s simply because i like the top end power. I've never driven a focus so i don't know how that is like, but i'm sure its nothing like a RSX-S. Not sure which car has the better aftermarket.

Thanks a lot 'StinkyTofu' For the reply! I really like good acceleration, but 1/4 or 0-60 isn't really that big a deal. Handling is my #1 priority...Anyone know about that?

wow, HT is definitely more mature then the average import message boards. No, **** domestics all about imports hahaha. but i guess you can argue the focus is technically an import. just a domestic badge. oh well whatever the case, still surprising not to hear flames on the ford.

Why is handling so important? This going to be a track car or street car?

Since when is an "American" interior a bad thing? When Automakers make cheap cars, the interior quality is going to go down regardless of whether or not its made on our soil.

I hate american cars. I think they are the biggest pieces of **** in the world. I don't know how to explain it, but before when sitting in a japanese car, you could tell its a japanese car. With that in mind, when i first sat in the RSX, i felt like i was in an american car.
I'm not in this forum to flame on the RSX. I admit, i own a DC2 and i love it to death. My opinion may be biase, but this guy was asking for opinions. I like the RSX. Although it is rather big, a lowered RSX is very attractive in my opinion. Straight line performance is great, and the gear ratios for the tranny are great as well. I have not gotten to test the handling very much, but I know from what i hear that the RSX handles great stock.
I don't remember the specs for the SVT focus, but from what i remember it has more torque, and most likely alot more "usuable" power than the RSX. For daily driving you want the focus, for drag go for the RSX.
If i were you, I would buy a civic si. Wait til someone crashes their RSX-s and do an engine transplant. Civic si with CTR body kit mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.
