Why no vtec?

I was taking a 90 degree left turn from a standstill, entirely in 1st gear. When exiting the turn, I hit the gas and the car bogged, obviously not in vtec, so I upshifted (rpm's had been at around 7-7,500). Anyway, I thought I had crossed over to the large cam at the correct rpm, but it feels like the car just "fell out" of vtec range. I checked the oil, and it wasn't extrodinarily low, and the car had no problem at any other time. BTW, yes, it was warmed up. Is it possible the oil pressure was never high enough to crossover and I just didn't notice, or is it something else. Thanks for any helpful responses, as this has never happened before during hard cornering, i.e. autro-x.
Yeah, the oil might have been slightly low, causing the pickup to go dry for a second. This causes a oil pressure drop, disengaging VTEC at the same time i would think.

Well, just added some mobil 1 (I was a little low anyway), so I wili try it again and see what happens. BTW, there was 1/2 tank of gas, so that definetly wasn't the issue.
