Default Si L3 Tranny & Driveshaft Splines

Just wondering if someone could tell me how many splines are on my axles? I have a 91 Civic Si with stock D16A6 engine and Si L3 transmission. Every autoparts store I have called said there are two different axles listed for that year of car. I searched around on here for a good half hour and did not come up with anything. So if someone could please help me that would be great, thanks!!

Is it the outside splines? DX and SI have a larger outside shaft that goes into the hub, hf and std have a narrower shaft. Your best bet is to take the original axle to the parts store and match up the one you need. Good luck.

I may have to resort to that if I have to. I know everywhere it says about a color coding on these things, but I can't remember seeing anything like that one them. Maybe I just wasn't paying attention enough though. I'll have to check that out quick tomorrow before work.

There are two indeed. The only real way to figure out which axles you need is to take the axle nut off and count the splines. I replaced mine getting the wrong one and had to drive back and get the correct ones.

Si, DX, LX and EX have 26 splines on the outer CV joint
CRX HF and Civic STD (4 speed) have 23 splines on the outer CV joint
