EGR valve question
It is me? If you disconnect the EGR valve or any sensor for that matter isn’t the ECU supposed to automatically throw a Cel. When I unplugged my EGR valve just to check if the person who did my swap wired it up correctly. I got no check engine light. I do get a check engine light code 12 which is my EGR when I hit highway speeds. Is this normal.

The EGR will not instantly throw a code. You have to drive around a little bit for the sensors to realize something is wrong...

That the response I was waiting to hear thx you. I believe the reason why my egr throws a code is becuase the person who did my h22 accord swap forgot to swtich the a6 and a11 pins on the ECU.

Help me understadn this?? Im having egr issues also. Why would you need to switch the a6 and a11 pins?? a6 is "HO2S Heater Coil". How in any way does this relate to the a11 (EGR Contro Solenoid)?? I did a h23 to h22 swap in my 4th gen, using h23 wire harness, would i have to also switch these pins around?? I just would like to get my EGR working again. And i cant figure out why it doesnt work.

On the accord A pin 6 and A pin 11 are the EGR solenoid and o2 sensor heater wire on the accord, but on the prelude it the opposite. So if you doing the h22 swap in to the accord you need to swap these pins. So A pin 6 goes where 11 was and so forth. This is necessary for the EGR solenoid to work which in return makes you EGR work I believe, they work together. I got this info form a h22 to accord swap article. Not sure about the h23 swap though.
A code is just the result of something else that is malfunctioning. The code is not the problem. EGR is just a solenoid that recirulates exhaust gas to "waterdown" the intake air with Nitrogen or something. I say don't bother. If its plugged then great.
As far as I know if I'm getting a code 12 for the EGR then I have to target just that. What your saying makes some sense to some degree, but I still want this problem resolved.

Do you get a code 12 when it is all hooked up normally? If so then it is possible your EGR solenoid is not operating. That stops vacuum from going to the EGR valve which will not lift it giving you that CEL.
If you want to check and see if your EGR valve is bad, start the car and hook a vacuum line from the intake right to the EGR and see if it kills the engine. If so your solenoid is probably bad or the wiring is messed up.
