1989 Accord radio/ tape player repair
My 89 Accord LX-i has the stock radio/ tape player but it's sick at the moment. I suspect a bad ground inside of it because when I turn it on the lights around the radio buttons turn off. Also when it's playing it sounds like I have blown speakers (dry chackily sound) i've already replaced the rear speakers so I know those are ok.
My question is has anybody repaired those or does anybody have a wiring shematic for it so I can troubleshoot itself? Honda has it listed in the ETM as a solid state device so there is no internal diagram of it and they do not intend it to be repaired (but I know otherwise).
I know it would be 100% easier to replace it but this car is my beater and I don't want to put any money into driving comforts (even though everything else works but that). Fixing it is 100% cheaper.
So if anyone could help me out I would greatly appreciate it

If you can open it up.. try to look for a burnt spot on the board, or a lose connection on it. I don't have a internal of it, but when solder goes you can usually see where it was... when my pioneer headunit went, i could see the burnt spots on the board, but try posting this in the audio section too. FCM is a good help with this stuff
Yea I have to fix a proken piece below the climate control so when I do that i'll yank the radio and see what I find.
I looked a little closer tonight and I noticed when I turn the key to "on" the radio lights up for an instant (not like it's turning on, more like I turned the lights on)
I'll post my findings and there may be a DIY out of it too. (those radios are very similar all the way to 1997).
It's funny to look back at all of the good cd players i've sold now
I do have a Kenwood a/v controller, DVD player and 2 screens. Wonder if I should throw those in. lol
