Completed my primer for the Expo this past Tuesday... I needed to break in some new tires and brakes as well as shake of alot of driver rust. Here's a video of a reasonably clean lap... There are a couple seconds still left for me to find but all in all I feel pretty good about my first day out for the year. Data provided by the PLX R-500.

Looks like fun! Nice lap. You might want to approach turn 7 a bit wider next time and come in a bit tighter, which should help your exit speed and shave some time, but I haven't been in ages so who am I to talk..! Great for the first time out though
I was M.I.A (no brakes) for a day at Shannonville with Ken McCartan and the IPC crew last year when I still had my SiR hatchback. Wish I could have made it out. Maybe the R will come out when it's not my only mode of transportation
Cheers!

Yes... my line through 7 on that lap was a little off. I played with 7 later on and found that a later turn in was indeed better. Unfortunately I didn't have any clean laps showing that line.

Nice man! I can't beleive you are hitting 183 at the end of the back straight....and judging from your gears, you are pumping more HP. Yeah, try turning in later in 7....should shave more time off. None the less, nice lap!
I think it's time to get back out to shannonville myself.

very nice video. Give us some details on your setup. Suspensions/engine mods.
I haven't been out this year..still trying to get my car together! Shannonville is a great track. The vid definately gave me some motivation..lol.

I am not that much of a track racer (more autox) and I have never been to Fabi, but it looked to me like turn 3 needed the most improvement. Your line between 2 and 3 looked a bit funky; it looked like you should get out and stay out a bit more and/or brake a bit more to get your turning done quicker and then get on the gas earlier coming out. Coming out of 3 it seemed like 2 things: 1) you were waiting too long to be able to get on the gas and 2) that you were lugging out of the hole which means you somehow need to keep a better line to maintain more speed (while still being able to get your turning done earlier) -OR- (more likely) down shift. Just tryin' to help.

Great analysis… my problem through that section of the track pretty much comes down to the way I tackled 2. I was breaking WAY too much into 2 and drove a line which didn't set me up very well through 3.
In my original post I mentioned I could shave a few seconds... this is where most of it is. I could easily carry another 10+km/hr through there and still set myself up better for 3.

Pretty nice lines for the most part. I suggest that for turn 7 you keep tighter to the right on the exit. That turn is a decreasing radius turn and you can actually apply full power just before the spot where you apexed.
Turn 9 should be taken a little slower going in and stay tighter to the apex. This will give you a really good launch down the straight.
Overall, nice lines.
If you happen to be in the are weekend of June 3/4, drop by. CASC is holding a number of races that wekend including the Touring GT series, Ontario Sprints and Formula Ford to name a few that will be competing on the Long Track! Last year there were a number of competitors from Quebec, many with Porsches (944T, 911 Ruf, 933) and possibly even a Ferrari 355 Challenge.
